Bij zeer koud weer worden vaak krachtige koudebeschermingsjassen zoals de HIG 4.0 gebruikt. Het nadeel daarvan is de beperkte bewegingsvrijheid. Bij de ontwikkeling van de Carinthia Softshell Jacket Special Forces werd er speciaal op gelet om weerbestendigheid te bieden bij gematigde temperaturen, met behoud van optimale bewegingsvrijheid. Bescherming tegen snelle afkoeling (winddicht dankzij GORE WINDSTOPPER membrane) combined with high breathability are its main features.
Even in light rain, high-quality softshell materials keep the wearer dry, although they are not a complete substitute for rain gear. Combined with base layers, this multi-purpose softshell jacket is extremely versatile and makes activities in temperatures around +10 °C comfortably possible thanks to increased freedom of movement.
